I’m livin’ in the 21st century, doin’ something mean to it. Do it better than anybody you ever seen do it. Screams from the haters, got a nice ring to it. I guess every superhero need his theme music.
No one man should have all that power. The clock’s tickin’, I just count the hours. Stop trippin’, I’m trippin’ off the ( power. ) |

There is a little book entitled The Fabric of the Cosmos: Space, Time, and the Texture of Reality, by Brian Greene. Read it. In laying the groundwork for the rest of the term, we will be discussing magic in terms of perceived reality and the manipulation thereof by gaining a better understanding of spacetime, beyond Euclidean perceptions. This means that we will be taking a theoretical approach to magic and looking at the very real, very malleable subatomic elements in play.
For the rest of you: campus societies can be a very good way to exercise your interests and talents in a low-risk setting. I was involved with them myself at one time (Psi Force, represent!). Disparaging them does no one a bit of good, except to make the disparager sound like an asshole.

ATTN: CAMULUS STUDENT BODY
As a member of your friendly neighborhood mentor staff, I would like to personally welcome the incoming freshmen class to these hallowed halls and cherished grounds. Congratulations on your extrication from Logan,--that place can be quite a bitch, I know from a great deal of personal experience, albeit never involving any mysteriously disappearing transport--and on surviving the clusterfuck arrival mixup that was this afternoon. I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but it's all downhill from here on out.
No, of course, I'm only joking. But I am afraid you will find the chicanery is best checked at the gate. You will never make it out alive if you spend the next four years screwing around. Best foot forward, head in the game, and all that. As a mentor of the current senior class, I regret that this post may, in fact, be both the beginning and end of any communication between myself and most of the newest students, but should anyone find their own class mentors insufficient, I am always happy to take on informal mentees. I have nothing but knowledge to impart. That goes for the sophomores and juniors as well. But, seniors, I do hope you won't be planning on trading me in this year for the likes of Vianka Ravenwood or, worse, Ignatius Longstaff.
Of course, I'm only joking. You will never find a more capable and dedicated lot than the entirety of the mentor staff, from those pledged to the arriving freshmen, to those of us on-call for the seniors. In the end, it's what you do with the lessons given to you, and all that. May you learn wisely and well.
Seniors, get some rest, attend the welcome assembly tomorrow, enjoy this week--because, come next Monday, your asses are mine. I do believe we have a Tournament to start preparing for, no?
Regards, M. Capet |
